Religion and belief are key aspects of what it means to live in a diverse society. Religious Studies will enable you to explore the nature of religion and belief and how they affect individual choices.

The study of philosophy, ethics, and religion addresses big questions, exploring different views and approaches to contemporary issues affecting our society.

The fascinating study of religion, philosophy and ethics provides critical thinking and research skills.

This course provides an excellent foundation for university and beyond, encouraging students to apply philosophical and ethical insights to real-world issues. An understanding of religious studies is beneficial for a wide range of careers, including education, youth work, social work, international aid and many more.

The A-Level course offers an in-depth exploration of philosophy, ethics, and religious beliefs, preparing students to understand and engage with diverse perspectives in a modern society. Through studying key thinkers, ethical theories, and world religions like Christianity, Islam, and Buddhism, students address major questions about human existence, morality, and the nature of belief.

The course is designed to build essential skills for higher education and beyond. Students will develop critical thinking, learning to analyse complex philosophical and ethical issues from multiple perspectives. Research skills are emphasised, fostering the ability to independently explore and interpret diverse sources of information. Effective communication is also a key focus, equipping students to articulate their knowledge and ideas clearly and persuasively in both written and verbal formats.

Together, these skills prepare students to apply philosophical and ethical insights to real-world issues thoughtfully and responsibly. On completion, you can go onto a religious study-related degree or an apprenticeship, or go directly into industry.
