Are you passionate about empowering people to achieve their best? Coaching professionals work with a wide range of individuals and teams to help enhance their performance, build their self-belief and awareness, and equip them to collaborate and innovate better.

The coaching professional apprenticeship is a practical learning experience which supports individuals in developing skills such as building relationships and setting goals with coachees. Apprentices on this programme will develop a coaching tool bag to support those they will work with to reach their full potential.

Coaching professionals are found in private, public, and third-sector national and multinational organisations operating within fields ranging from business, finance, and retail to health, engineering, manufacturing, technology, construction, education, and leisure. The apprenticeship will help you develop the essential skills and knowledge through theoretical training and on-the-job application, all while gaining a Level 5 qualification to boost your career prospects.

All apprentices must be employed full-time and their employer must be willing to support them through the apprenticeship.

How to apply

To apply you must already be employed, and your employer must agree to you completing this apprenticeship. Once this agreement is in place please contact apprenticeships@ucb.ac.uk who will guide you and your employer through the process.

Teaching and assessment

We use a wide range of assessment strategies to support all styles of learning including:

  • written assignments
  • practical observations and projects.

On completion of the apprenticeship, all learners will undertake an end-point assessment which is comprised of an observation, a test and an interview supported by a portfolio of work. The end-point assessment takes place with an independent organisation. On completion, they will advise you of your grade.

Our teaching and assessment is underpinned by our Teaching, Learning and Assessment Strategy 2015-2020.

Fees

As an apprentice, you won’t need to pay tuition fees. Both your employer and the government will cover these costs for you. This extends to degree apprenticeships as well, allowing you to gain valuable work experience and academic qualifications without tuition expenses.

You may be eligible for the Learner Support Fund, which assists college students with course-related costs such as essential uniform, equipment and travel. For more information, please visit our Financial Support for College Students page.

I've thoroughly enjoyed my time working towards my Level 5 Coaching Professional apprenticeship. The staff are supportive and approachable, helping me rediscover my love for learning. The campus is welcoming and well-equipped, and the apprenticeship content aligns really well with my role, allowing me to grow both professionally and personally. The mix of theory and practical experience has expanded my skills more than I expected. I'm so glad I embarked on this journey and I highly recommend it.
