English language support services at University College Birmingham
To study an undergraduate degree at University College Birmingham, students must have an English level equivalent to B2 on the Common European Framework of Reference.
However, some students may find that on arriving in the UK, they would like additional support with their language skills in order to develop further.
University College Birmingham provides a range of options to help you with your written and spoken academic English, whether English is your second (or third or fourth!) language or you are a native speaker wanting to brush up on your language skills. Here are some of the ways you can receive support.
Academic support appointments with CASE
All University College Birmingham students can book one 30-minute appointment per week with the Centre for Academic Skills and English (CASE) team.
English language workshops
Students can sign up for our free 5-week workshops, which run each semester. Several of these workshops run at once, all on different days of the week, at different times, and covering different subjects. Students are free to sign up for as many workshops as they like, but we ask that you attend every session during the five weeks.
Visit the Academic Skills Centre for more details.
English drop-In sessions
These regular sessions do not need to be booked, you can pop in with any questions you have when you like. The CASE team will advertise when these sessions are available.
