We make sure your voice is heard
As soon as you enrol at University College Birmingham, you automatically become a member of the Guild of Students. The Guild is an independent charity led by elected student Officers who work all year-round to help you make the most of University College Birmingham.
The Guild is the students’ union for University College Birmingham students and we work for all students, including both university and college level. Our aims as a charity are based around three areas:
- Got your back – representing you and campaigning to ensure you have everything you need to participate in everything University College Birmingham has to offer
- Find your people – running events and activities alongside a range of sports clubs and societies to help you meet new friends
- Shape your life – offering leadership opportunities such as course reps or officer positions to develop your skills and help you gain life-long experiences

We make a difference
We exist to make sure all students are heard on the issues that matter to them, giving you the opportunity to shape your course and your experience at University College Birmingham.
Each year, we support over 300 course representatives through training, briefings and reward/recognition to ensure our students are able to share other students’ experiences. Our full-time officers also meet regularly with senior leaders of University College Birmingham to champion larger changes that students want to see.
For students looking to step up for others, the Guild runs annual elections for part-time (volunteer) and full-time (paid) officers. Any student can stand and vote in the Guild’s elections, with the winning candidates working at the Guild for the following academic year. If you want to know more, or if you’re interested in making a difference yourself, head to our website.
A real community
We want you to feel like you are part of a real community at University College Birmingham. The Guild has a huge range of societies and clubs you can join, covering sports, hobbies, identity, and academic areas. No matter what you’re interested in, there is something for you to get involved with.
You can find all of our clubs and societies listed on our website, including those that need new volunteers to lead them. Any student can create a society, so if you think something is missing, we’d love to talk about how the Guild can support you to make a new one.
