Our dedicated staff use their extensive and varied experience in the sector to support you to find your particular area of passion, which you can explore through specialised optional module choices and supported placement experiences through our widespread links within the sector. Our courses are developed and taught by experienced lecturing staff, who have worked on the front line and in strategic roles in health and social care. This enables them to draw on in-the-field experience. Guest lecturers and service users from practice also participate in our courses, while a final year vocational project stresses our emphasis on employability. ENRICHMENT Joining us, you can expect education and training that goes far beyond everyday classes and lectures. We are committed to providing additional enrichment opportunities for students, from industry trips and expert visits to experience training such as mental health First Aid, basic life support and much more. PLACEMENTS At our university, gaining real-world work experience is a top priority. To prepare you for your future career, we offer placements in diverse health and social settings as an integral part of your studies. You will have the opportunity to complete a placement one day a week, supported by our dedicated health and social care Employability Tutors. Placements are directly linked to modules studied and contribute to module grades, enabling you to apply theoretical knowledge in practical environments and have your practice with service users highlighted and rewarded – providing a perfect springboard to paid employment. Depending on your interests and career goals, you could work in services supporting health and social care issues such as mental health, learning disabilities, homelessness, domestic abuse, brain injuries, addiction, asylumseeking, special educational needs and much more.
