Highest-ranking university in the West Midlands
When it comes to student feedback, our university stands out. Students were asked to rate their university experience for the 2024 Whatuni Student Choice Awards (WUSCA), considering what shaped their time at university, and we were enormously proud to rank top in the West Midlands.
We were also regional winners for student support, international and our postgraduate provision in the only awards in the UK based solely on student choice. This adds up to a hat-trick of years where we have won top awards, including winning UK University of the Year in 2022 and silver in the category in 2023.

Creating a positive environment for students is paramount at University College Birmingham and we offer an enhanced student support hub with one-to-one tailored support services.
From our expert teaching staff to our Centre for Academic Skills and English, which provides students with essential skills, to dedicated disability support through to our compassionate health and wellbeing team, the University is proud to strengthen students’ experience through first-class support.

Postgraduate - regional winner
We are proud to be regional winners for our postgraduate provision. Cementing this, we had stellar results from entirely student-based feedback metrics that placed us first out of 101 higher education institutions for postgraduate student support and resources in the Postgraduate Taught Experience Survey (PTES), the largest survey of its kind in higher education.
Postgraduate students also rated the University 4th in overall student satisfaction, as well as top 10 in every category out of all institutions.
Winning this award demonstrates the excellent standards of the University’s postgraduate courses and commitment to an exceptional student experience.

"We are very proud to be the highest-ranking university in the West Midlands, where many of our students come from and thrive in our inclusive, diverse community. It is a fantastic achievement as this is voted for by students themselves. I would like to thank all our students and staff for showing such commitment to excelling and developing our region's skilled workforce."
