Zameena, an international student from Kenya, undertook a gap year and worked and studied at the Modern Montessori International School.

The valuable experience she gained during her gap year confirmed her choice of career pathway – working with children and in particular, children with special needs.

She made the right choice for her by joining University College Birmingham.

“My future ambition is to pursue a master's degree in speech and language therapy, focusing on improving the lives of children who are unable to communicate their needs effectively.”

Having returned to Kenya, Zameena has successfully secured a position as an early years practitioner, which includes assisting a teacher and developing and enhancing learning resources that support the development of all children in the classroom, including those children with additional needs.
