Setting a high bar

Head chef Ranjeet is passionate about delivering high quality food and a top-class dining experience, and when choosing where to study his art one option stood out above all others.

“I chose University College Birmingham for its strong reputation, industry-focused education, and hands-on learning approach,” he said.

“The modern facilities and career support made it the ideal place to develop my skills.”

After graduating, Ranjeet worked his way up the ranks across a number of restaurants before taking on the head chef role for a well-established company with over twenty venues across Birmingham. He credits the knowledge and practical experience he was able to gain through his masters’ course with propelling his career forward.

“While I faced challenges during my studies, support from lecturers and the University’s support services helped me to overcome them,” he said.

Looking ahead, Ranjeet has set his sights high, and plans to one day open and run his own restaurant.

“If you're currently a student, make the most of your time at uni: engage with lecturers, network, and seek guidance when needed,” he advised.

“I’m so grateful for my experience at University College Birmingham, and appreciate the opportunities it has provided.”
