Priyanshu Sharma

International Hospitality and Tourism Management BA (Hons)

En route to the world

Priyanshu had been interested in travelling and food since he was young.

After completing his studies in India, he decided he wanted to study abroad to meet people from different cultures and explore different types of foods.

“I was torn between Canada and the UK, but after much research, I saw the filming of the restaurant facilities at University College Birmingham. That sold it for me.”

Wanting to build up his CV, he started exploring hospitality job opportunities within Birmingham.

“It is important to get work experience,” he said. “I started working for an agency and could not believe it when I got to work at Silverstone and be paid.”

Priyanshu is now looking forward to starting his placement at Ruebens, the only kosher restaurant in West End London. “This course really does allow you to explore the world of hospitality,” he said.

“With all the practical skills I have learned on the course and the work experience I am getting, I would love to apply for a management role on a cruise ship in the future. The dream is to travel the world and
have a lucrative career.”
