Rising to the occasion 

Awarded a first-class degree, Natalie not only went on to become a bakery technologist with leading leavening agent producer Kudos Blends, but was honoured as top student in the UK by the Worshipful Company of Bakers.

During her studies, Natalie also won a haul of awards from the Alliance for Bakery Students and Trainees, making the most of the opportunities the University supported her with.

Today, she is passing on her skills to the next generation of stars as a bakery lecturer at University College Birmingham.

Moving up from Level 2 and 3 in Bakery, she said having a degree with an emphasis on the science was desired by employers: “It really sets you apart,” said Natalie, who completed her placement in Marseille in France.

“One of the best things about my degree was the amount of modules that opened my eyes to the different career paths I could go down.

“It’s now so interesting to be able to teach and create a similar experience to what I had for our next generation of bakery students. It feels great to be able to give back in this way.”
