Enterprise Management MSc

Online teaching entrepreneur

To fulfil her ambition to launch an online teaching service, Muzammil knew she needed essential business skills to build on her early childhood studies degree.

To achieve this, she enrolled on University College Birmingham’s Enterprise Management master’s degree and is now learning everything from business planning, entrepreneurial finance and international entrepreneurship to risk management and digital marketing.

“From a very young age, I had a passion for teaching and always wanted to work with children, so I did my early childhood studies and was fortunate enough to go on to work as an early years professional with Aspire in Birmingham,” she said.

“I also worked in a few British schools in the United Arab Emirates and, returning to England, gained my Teaching English as a Foreign Language qualification to broaden my experience and teach students whose second language was English.

“After tutoring students from across the UK, the Middle East and south-east Asia online for almost three years, I felt it was the right time to come out of my comfort zone and go for a business opportunity of my own.

“I made a life-changing decision to go back to university.”

But why University College Birmingham?

“I had work and family commitments and didn’t want to be commuting further, but crucially, I needed to know the course would equip me with the right skills and confidence to be able to become a successful entrepreneur, especially in such a fast driven and competitive economy,” she said.

“Finding a reputable university was pivotal and after thorough research, I found this MSc in Enterprise Management. It was perfect.

“The course has taught me much more than expected, tools that have given me the confidence and ability to try out my new venture without fear of failure.

“My personal tutor also nominated me as the head of academic support for my peers, which makes me feel very privileged.”
