Indiya means business
While receiving some basic business skills training after college, Indiya found a love for digital marketing – and decided she wanted to set up her own company.
Wanting to understand exactly how to make a venture a success, she started looking at studying a business-related degree.
The one thing she did want was to be able to live at home.
“I looked at universities in London, but it was so expensive,” said Indiya, who grew up in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter. “I then
found this degree in Birmingham.”
At first, she didn’t think she had enough UCAS points to start the degree straight away. “I was interviewed for the Access to Higher Education Business course, but was told I actually had enough points
to do the two-year foundation degree, which was fantastic.”
She said highlights so far were the field trips, including one to award-winning creative agency DRPG, and specialising with optional modules, from exploring e-commerce to freelancing and financial strategy.
“I’ve had lots of support from my lecturers throughout,” she said. “I also get a lot out of my Kick-Start money, which I use in the university
cafeteria and gym.”
