Ellie's Story

With a father passionate about rally driving, and a mother working as a pacesetter, it seemed inevitable that Ellie too would become a petrolhead!

At an early age she was captivated by Formula 1 racing and dreamt of travelling the world supporting the teams. With this in mind, she completed a degree in events management, and subsequently aspired to continue her studies at master’s level.

By a stroke of luck, Ellie's journey led her to University College Birmingham – a place she fondly remembered from a student union trip – and was excited by the prospect of studying on the “renowned international hospitality course,” which provided opportunities to travel whilst studying.

Ellie visited Türkiye, where she completed a project management assignment, conducted first-hand research, and interacted with industry professionals.

Reflecting on her time at the University, Ellie expressed her satisfaction, noting, "I appreciate being part of something here; you are not just a metric."

She emphasised “the support I received from fellow students, the dedicated lecturers, and the support teams contribute to a nurturing learning environment that will help me to pursue my Formula 1 dream.”
