Profile
I am Executive Dean of the School of Psychology at University College Birmingham, where I have the privilege of setting up and developing a school of psychology with a strong suite of applied programmes and supporting the employability skills of future psychology graduates.
I previously worked as Head of Psychology at the University of Bolton and have worked in Higher Education for over 15 years. Prior to my academic career, I worked within the prison service (both male Category B and Category C prisons), providing psychological services to offenders and I held the position of treatment manager of an offending behaviour treatment programme. I also have experience working within youth offending services and alongside forensic community mental health teams.
Teaching
My leadership of academic, research and treatment teams, allows for the practical application of psychology to the classroom.
Research interests and scholarly activity
I have a particular research interest in disparities in health service needs and treatment provision for ethnic minority groups.
External engagements
My work has been acknowledged through the BPS national award for innovation. I sit on the Education and training Board within the BPS and currently hold external roles relevant to curriculum development.
