I began my career as an apprentice in a salon while studying at Walsall College, and became a manager, senior stylist, and trainer in three years.
After nine years I set up my own business and balanced this with freelance work before joining University College Birmingham in 2004.
I completed my teaching qualification in 2006 before I was awarded a BA (Hons) in Business in 2011.
