Profile

I originally worked within the travel and tourism sector as a Travel Manager, and gained subsequent experience as as a dancer and singer in an entertainment team, before working for a tour operator.

I joined University College Birmingham in 1996, originally as manager of the visitor information centre, and subsequently joined the FE teaching team. I am senior curriculum lead and programme manager for FE travel and tourism, as well as Lead Internal Verifier for the BTEC programme.

I hold Dance Teacher and Exercise to Music qualifications, a UK Athletics coaching qualification, and was a First Responder at the Olympic park during the 2012 Olympics.

I have also spent a period of time teaching travel and tourism in Australia for both the HE and secondary school sectors.

Teaching

BTEC Level 3 Travel and Tourism, BTEC Level 3 Sport, HE Tourism (Tourism Operations Management), enrichment courses, cabin crew, aviation operations on the ground.

Research interests and scholarly activity

I take an interest in assessment within all educational establishments.

External engagements

I am part of Chartered Educational Assessor external team.
