Read time: approx 2 mins
Sports students will have the opportunity to hear from leading representatives from the likes of Aston Villa FC and British Judo at an upcoming event at University College Birmingham.
Organised by the hired@UCB employability team, the 2020 Sports Conference and Fair will welcome a series of top guest speakers and more than 20 employers to McIntyre House from 10.30am on Thursday 27 February.
Among those speaking at the event will be Ryan Maye, Head of Coach Development at Aston Villa, and British Judo Performance Physiotherapist Jacob Eyres.
They will be joined by Sport Birmingham Chief Executive Mike Chamberlain as well as Jonny Hammond, Lifting Club Coach at Gymshark.
Open to students on all UCB sports courses, the event will also feature a networking fair hosting organisations such as Birmingham City FC, West Bromwich Albion FC, West Midlands Police, The Gym Group and many more, while students will also have the chance to sign up for professional headshots for LinkedIn profiles.
In addition, this year's fair includes a free Mental Health Awareness Workshop delivered by Mental Health First Aid England, giving participants an understanding of common issues affecting young people and how to support others.
Event organiser and hired@UCB employability tutor Martyn Phillips said: "The Sports Conference and Fair is a fantastic opportunity for students to learn more about building a career within the sector.
"We have exciting guest speakers discussing their career journey and answering any questions students may have, while we also have a number of employers offering paid and voluntary positions. It's an excellent opportunity to network, so bring along a CV!"
