New CIMSPA partnership provides employability boost for UCB's sports managers of the future

University College Birmingham has partnered with a prestigious professional body within the sports industry to provide a wealth of benefits for UCB's budding sports managers.

The University has become an official higher education partner of the Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity (CIMSPA), the sport management sector's only chartered professional body.

The partnership will offer a major employability boost for students on UCB's BA (Hons) and FdA Sports Management courses, aligning studies with industry expectations to ensure graduates are suitably qualified and ready to join the workforce.

Anyone enrolling on the course will automatically become a student member of CIMSPA, providing engagement opportunities with local employer partners, information and access to placements, volunteering and internships, as well as additional CIMSPA publications and learning resources.

Helen Hiley, Education Officer (Higher Education) at CIMSPA, said: "University College Birmingham offers a wide range of sports degree programmes and we are excited to have them on board as a higher education partner.

"The newly-formed partnership between CIMSPA – as the chartered professional body – and UCB will support the launch of the new sports management programme to ensure students have the competencies and skills needed to meet the requirements of employers."

UCB Sports Management lecturer Marc Brady said: "Our higher education partnership with CIMSPA will be of great benefit to our sports management students as it will integrate CIMSPA's professional standards to support the employability prospects of UCB students.

"At UCB, we are dedicated to providing an excellent learning environment and equipping our students with the knowledge and experiences needed in the sports industry."

UCB's School of Sport and Creative Services offers an array of courses for anyone interested in a career in the sports industry, with many of our degrees endorsed by key professional bodies including the Society of Sports Therapists and the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA).

The University is also committed to Clean Sport as outlined by UK Anti-Doping (UKAD) and the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) – more information is available here.
