Rosie Ginday MBE
Chef Cookery Courses Level 2 and Level 3 (Professional Cookery)
Culinary sensation Rosie started her award-winning business Miss Macaroon while studying at University College Birmingham with only £500 of her own money and the use of kitchen space in the college of food.
After a fine art degree, Rosie’s studies at University College Birmingham allowed her to discover a world of cuisine, and uncover a love of baking: “I loved the variety. I worked in the Atrium restaurant, and even prepared a whole monkfish. You don’t often get those opportunities.”
Rosie secured work experience with fellow star of the Birmingham food scene Glynn Purnell following completion of her course before branching out onto her own path.
What began as a social enterprise helping young people to find employment expanded to include work with government, education, and other businesses. Now, she also creates opportunities in the construction industry for disadvantaged young people through her Building a Brighter Future initiative.
Alongside her work providing treats to top restaurants, coffee shops and retailers, Rosie is a Board member at Big Society Capital, a Colmore BID Board Member, has won multiple national awards including English Woman of the Year, and was awarded an MBE for services to the community in 2019: “University College Birmingham allowed me the space to combine all my passions with knowledgeable and supportive lecturers,” she said.
“You get a really in-depth experience across so many different areas.”
