Creating a brighter future
Daniel chose University College Birmingham because of its strong engineering reputation and commitment to practical learning.
With access to state-of-the-art equipment such as the pneumatics kit, he has the resources he needs to develop real-world engineering skills.
Daniel said: “The teaching is great, and the practical approach helps me understand the concepts.
"It's one thing to learn about engineering, but being able to apply it makes a huge difference."
Daniel has been able to work with expert tutors and gain experience that prepares him for a career in automation and robotics, while combining academic learning with hands-on training has strengthened his problem-solving abilities and technical knowledge.
Through the University’s partnership with the Greater Birmingham and Solihull Institute of Technology (GBSIoT), Daniel has also had the opportunity to explore cutting-edge technology and industry applications, with access to leading professionals and emerging technologies.
His visit to GBSIoT's innovation hub, in particular, opened his eyes to the potential of automation and the Internet of Things (IoT).
"The visit to GBSIoT opened my eyes to the future of technology,” he said.
"Seeing how IoT revolutionises industries was incredible – it made me realise how innovation drives progress.
"I want to be part of projects that make systems smarter and more efficient. Engineering is about pushing the limits of what's possible, which excites me the most."
