Profile
I started my career at the age of 16 as a Commis Chef at Fairlawns Hotel and Spa in Aldridge, while studying my NVQ 1, 2 and 3 in Practical Professional Cookery at University College Birmingham. I continued my education by completing my BA (Hons) degree in Culinary Arts Management.
After leaving UCB, I worked in management and development roles in local authorities and contract catering businesses. This exposure to different areas of the industry has stood me in good stead as I am able to work both creatively and analytically to achieve the best results possible.
I started my career at UCB as a Protocol lecturer working in The Restaurant with both HE and FE students. This has then developed to working on the Culinary Arts Development module with HE students. After 1 academic year I successfully applied to UCB as a full-time member of staff. I currently work on the Culinary Arts Development, Kitchen and Restaurant Operations and Creative Kitchen Management modules.
Teaching
I am a personal tutor for students on our first year CAM program as well as a dissertation tutor.
Research interests and scholarly activity
I completed my dissertation by studying Organic produce and its place in the UK marketplace.
